Copper busbars are solid strips or bars of copper used in electrical switchboards and power distribution systems to conduct electricity efficiently between components. Unlike cables, copper busbars provide a compact, rigid, and low-resistance path for current flow. They are commonly used in main switchboards, distribution boards, and control panels to connect incoming supply lines to outgoing circuits, protection devices, and meters. The size and thickness of the busbar depend on the current rating and fault level requirements of the installation.
Copper is preferred due to its superior conductivity, thermal performance, and resistance to corrosion. Busbars can be flat, round, or shaped to fit within custom enclosures, and are often insulated with heat-shrink tubing or sleeving for added safety.
These can be manufactured to replace bars that are damaged or have been tampered with.
